Woke this morning to the sound of rain, first rainfall since we arrived. Appropriate I figure, since Justin left last night to head back home to get some flying in, he’ll be back in 12 days or so. Figured it would be a quiet day around the house till we see what the weather decides to do. School work it is, followed by a couple card games.

Someone lost, can you guess who?

We decide to head out and do some running around as the rain has let up and as we are walking to the car we notice all the snails on the sidewalks. Big ones, little ones, just like at home when it rains and the slugs come out. The kids had fun picking them up and relocating them.

No harm was done to this snail.

We came home and after a bit decide to walk down the main street to the circus tent we saw heading into the village. Signs on the street said the “Europeen Circus” was in town for 2 nights. We arrive at the circus tent and it’s pretty quiet, sure we’re 5 minutes early from the 5:00pm start time but when I say quiet I mean like 4 other people there. We wait around, I pop my head in the tent, a woman comes out and speaks very quickly to me with hand gestures, I smile and say Merci. I walk back to the kids and Shelby asks “what did she say?” I say “I don’t know” she says did she say “(blah blah blah…I don’t even remember what Shelby asked me)” I said “nope” did she say “blah blah blah” I say “I don’t think so” she says “did you understand any words she said?” I said “nope, but I know she told me to wait over there because that’s where she pointed to”. Big eye roll from Shelby, I told her next time she wants more info she needs to come with me. So anyway we wait another 10 minutes, look at the few animals they have brought, they seemed to be all miniature looking. A cow and it’s calf, a hairy cow, a lama and something else I can’t remember. A woman comes out and starts talking to the crowd, which is now about 12 of us total. When she’s done I look at Shelby and she says, no show, not enough people they’ll do it tomorrow. It’s an odd feeling having to look at your 10 year old to translate things to you when you don’t have a clue what someone is saying. I know I would have got the gist of it, but she is able to tell me so much more – I’m so proud of her and her hard work.

No circus sad faces!
